Because, you know, they had to differentiate it from all the other soups that only use the fake acini de pepe:

    It's bad enough that everyone calls it "acini de pepe"… de is not Italian. It's maybe Mexican, Spanish and Portugues… but it's not Italian. No, señor.

    Yeah, I noticed that when I went searching on wikipedia for the link – I didn't change it because I wanted it to be portrayed exactly how they noted it, but you're exactly right on the de issue.

    No worries, I did get that it was a punchline on top of the "we use the real thing" line. The "real thing" gag is something I keep noticing especially on the US market. Oh well, besides Ican'tbelieveit'snotbutter-butter. Erm. Margarine. Fake… well, butter.
